AI-migo is an AI-driven Spanish tutor that provides immediate answers, writing feedback, and practice activities aligned with course content and student progression.
Unlike general large language models and other AI tools that may go beyond the course material or exceed students’ levels, AI-migo is tailored to the XJTLU Spanish curriculum and specifically designed for beginner students at XJTLU (SPA001, SPA002, and SPA003). Its customized knowledge base is continuously updated throughout the semester to match students’ progress.
Overall, AI-migo excels at providing explanations, feedback, and practice activities, making it an excellent complement to classroom teaching at XJTLU.

Suggestion for users
A key challenge is ensuring that students do not over-rely on AI-migo’s explanations and corrections without critically reflecting on their own work. For instance, incorporating peer reviews into class activities before using AI-migo can foster independent thinking and reduce dependency on the tool.
Another limitation is that students seeking deeper cultural nuances or more advanced explanations may sometimes find its responses limited.
From an ethical standpoint, students should be reminded to avoid sharing sensitive data and to critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions, especially when they appear incorrect or irrelevant.
